Taco Bros Brings Its Flavours to East Finchley with First Store Opening

Share

Taco Bros, the third- generation, family-run Taqueria, is proud to announce the opening of its first permanent restaurant in East Finchley.

Known for its flavourful dishes inspired by family recipes and long-standing traditions, Taco Bros recently won Judge’s Choice Best Taqueria at the 2025 Tacover Festival, cementing its reputation as one of the city’s top destinations for Mexican cuisine.

Founded by Emiliano Ventura in 2022, Taco Bros began when he and his brother made tacos for a charity fair. Inspired by their late grandmother, Martha, and driven by a love of hospitality, they soon started trading at local markets, before securing a permanent position at the Southbank Centre Food Market. Since then, ‘The Truck’ has brought its flavours to festivals, private events, and corporate gatherings across the UK.

Emiliano’s hospitality career began trading tacos in Portobello Road with his father, Francisco Ventura. Like Emiliano, Francisco inherited a passion for hospitality from Mama Martha, which continues to inspire the family today. When Emiliano was just seven years old, Francisco opened his own restaurant in Edinburgh. Emiliano fondly recalls spending his summer holidays there, helping out, learning the ropes, and soaking in the atmosphere. Today, Francisco remains a driving force behind Taco Bros, working proudly alongside his son to expand the business.

Following this, Emiliano started at the renowned Mexican restaurant group Wahaca, where he started as a waiter aged eighteen. Over ten years, he worked his way up through every aspect of the business – from waiter to bartender to general manager – before spending an additional two years at Caravan Restaurants. These experiences, and his father’s advice, gave Emiliano the confidence and knowledge to launch Taco Bros and shaped the team of friends, family, and colleagues who have joined him on the journey.

The Menu

At the East Finchley restaurant, diners can enjoy nine taco varieties, including vegan, fish, and meat options, all served in pairs using Masafina heirloom corn
tortillas from Yucatán.

One of the standout dishes is Mama Martha’s Quesadilla, named after Emiliano’s grandmother, who sold these from her home in Mexico. The quesadillas are made with hand-pressed corn maseca fried with cheese, and filled with salsa, crema, lettuce, and the diner’s choice of filling – a true taste of family tradition.

The Pollo Con Mole is another signature dish, featuring tender chicken in a rich mole sauce made with over 15 ingredients including guajillo, ancho and pasilla chillies, chocolate, cinnamon, sesame seeds, bay leaf, peanuts, and a few secret additions.

Emiliano comments: “This dish was always what my grandmother served when we arrived at her house in Mexico City. It is traditionally reserved for special occasions, taking time and care over the process. At Taco Bros, we make it with the same love it would be in a family home.”

Open from 12pm daily, Taco Bros serves brunch through to dinner with lighter highlights including Flautas De Pollo (lightly fried rolled tortillas filled with chicken, topped with lettuce tomatoes, onions, avocado, and salsa), and Chilaquiles (fried corn tortilla chips with a choice of red or green salsa, topped with mozzarella, crema, onions, and fried egg).

The Atmosphere

The East Finchley restaurant is an extension of the Taco Bros story. The walls feature family photos of Emiliano’s grandmother cooking, along other treasured
family memories, lucha libre masks,Tomatillos cans, a Jarritos neon sign with bottles to match, and trinkets brought over from Mexico.

The space is warm, welcoming, and full of life. Whether guests are looking for a quick lunch, a slow dinner with friends, or a few margaritas, Taco Bros offers an
experience that feels as much like home as it does a restaurant – with authenticity at its core.
