YOU SING IN THE SHOWER, WHISTLE WHILE MAKING BREAKFAST AND SMILE AT STRANGERS ON YOUR COMMUTE: SIGNS YOU’RE A MORNING PERSON – AND PERHAPS A BIT ANNOYING, ACCORDING TO A NEW STUDY

A new study reveals, 36 percent of Brits describe themselves as a fully fledged “morning person” – someone who leaps out of bed at the crack of dawn to make tea, write their to-do-list, or maybe partake in some sunrise yoga.

Sadly, a third (33 percent) of Brits chose a long-term partner who belongs in a different category to them, with 15 percent of night owls claiming they’re married to a morning person, and almost half (47 percent) of them wishing their partner was LESS cheerful before 9am.

The research also revealed the definitive signs you’re a true morning person, with being unable to lie in at weekends (46 percent) among the most common attributes.

Flinging the curtains open dramatically (37 percent), always waking up before your alarm (35 percent), and smiling at strangers on your commute (20 percent) are also considered morning people traits, along with whistling while you prepare breakfast (19 percent) and singing in the shower (19 percent).

The idea of hitting the gym before work (16 percent) only brings joy to the early risers among us, however over half (52 percent) of us wish we had more time to exercise before work.

It’s therefore unsurprising that our differing time preferences causes disputes, with four in ten (43 percent) admitting that they often have cross words – an average of eight arguments a month. leading granola brand Lizi’s

No matter how we feel about the mornings, eight in ten (82 percent) think that breakfast is the most important meal of the day – with 64 percent agreeing that it is the perfect time to check in on family.

The research lands as Lizi’s launches its “Lizi’s at The Lizi Line” campaign, offering free granola to commuters at six Elizabeth Line stations from 18th – 27th March to help them start their day the right way.

Daniel Wheeler from Lizi’s, says: “It’s clear that the nation falls into two distinct categories with many of us finding it difficult to understand our opposite. However, one thing Brits clearly do agree on is that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, no matter your mood in the mornings. Starting your day with a nutritious breakfast sets you up for success.

Over half (54 percent) of Brits wish they were more of a morning person, with night owls admitting they are only ready for a full conversation at 9am (compared to 8am for a morning person).
