The EXACT days to book your Christmas beauty appointments
Share
As we look ahead to the Christmas period, many people will be booking beauty appointments to help them look and feel their best.
But with slots filling up fast, it can be confusing to know exactly when to book treatments so that they’re not only fresh for Christmas Day but the New Year party season, too.
Melissa Savage, beauty expert at Ripe Hair & Beauty, has shared a helpful breakdown of optimum days for treatments and services, to ensure they last the full festive period between Christmas Eve and New Year’s Day.
Facial – 16th December
The skin on our face is incredibly delicate, particularly at this time of year as cold weather can play havoc with its natural barriers. For that reason, it’s prone to redness or irritation following a treatment.
A facial should be done a week in advance (longer if this includes any invasive procedures) to give this a chance to subside. The results of a good facial will last at least a few weeks, meaning you’ll reap the benefits of glowing skin throughout the festive period.
Brows – 19th December
Eyebrow treatments such as threading and waxing will often cause redness and irritation, so although it’s tempting to wait until the last moment, you’re far better getting these done around 3-5 days ahead of time.
Additionally, if you’re opting for brow lamination or tinting, you’ll need to factor in that your brows must stay dry for 24-48 hours following the treatment.
Depending on your treatment, this should mean your brows stay fresh for the whole Christmas period.

Lashes – 21st December
Eyelash extensions need at least 24 hours to set to ensure they have fully bonded, so 2-3 days prior is always recommended. A good set of lashes should last around 3 weeks, meaning they’ll be fresh for Christmas and still fluffy into January.
It’s important to have lashes done after any facial appointments and before any spray tan appointments, as both treatments could interfere with the lash adhesive and make it less effective.
Waxing – 21st December
Like many eyebrow services, waxing treatments are likely to cause redness and irritation in the first instance, particularly if you’re not a regular waxer. It’s therefore a great idea to book waxing 2-3 days ahead of time.
A good wax will typically last 4 weeks, so this timing will mean that any issues have a chance to die down, while ensuring you stay smooth into the new year.
Spray Tan – 22nd December
At this time of year, many Brits will be looking for that healthy glow that a fresh spray tan can offer. It’s recommended that you book a tan around 48 hours ahead, allowing time for the shade to fully develop.
Spray tans last around 5-7 days, so you may need to top up in-between Christmas and New Year with a little at-home self-tanning product. If so, ensure to maintain a good exfoliating routine to help the two products blend more seamlessly.
Manicure/ Pedicure – 23rd December
Given that we may be spending longer on certain tasks like preparing food and wrapping presents – both of which can affect the staying-power of a Christmas manicure – it’s advised that you wait until a later stage before booking nail treatments.
Gel nails should last around 2 weeks as a minimum, so leaving until 23rd December means they’re more likely to see in the New Year looking great.
And, while a pedicure will typically last a lot longer and could be done further in advance, it’s usually more convenient to do both at the same time!
Blow Dry – 24th December
Finally, many of us will add a blow dry to our list of treatments ahead of the big day.
This should be done at the very last moment. The afternoon of Christmas Eve is perfect, giving you a fresh “just out the salon” look for any evening celebrations and meaning you have one less thing to think about on Christmas Day morning.
