NEVER Make These 4 Mistakes With Your Brows

Share

Ever wondered why your brows just won’t cooperate? Owner of Rubis Tweezers and Brow Expert Fides Baldesberger has the answers.

From the heavy-handed use of brow pomades to the perils of chemically laminating those precious arches, she’s seen it all. But fear not! Fides is here to steer you clear of common mishaps like improper trimming and imprecise tweezing. Get ready to level up your brow game as Fides spills the tea on how to avoid those cringe-worthy brow blunders.

  1. Laying It On Thick

“With any brow product – pomade, pencil etc – you do have to be gentle when applying and avoid exerting excessive pressure on the skin and hair follicles as this can lead to patchy brow hair growth. Brow gels are great for keeping wily hairs in place, however as they stiffen your brows it could also make them more brittle or susceptible to damage. If you use brow gels, make them the last step when doing your brows, so you aren’t tugging on overly stiff brows with other pencils, crayons or brushes. Also, opt for brow gels that have hydrating ingredients in like hyaluronic acid or castor oil.”

  1. Chemical Overload

“Just as perming the hair on your head can lead to dryness and damage, brow lamination – which is a form of hair perming – could potentially damage your eyebrows in the same way. Your chances are greater if you repeat the process too often, or sooner than 6 weeks. Other side effects include swelling, redness, peeling, itching, and bumps around the eyebrow area. Another more serious risk is eye damage. This may occur if the chemicals run into your eyes during the procedure.”

  1. Giving Your Brows A Crew-Cut

“Don’t give your brows a crew cut and trim them across in a straight line. Instead cut one hair at a time in a downward angle. This keeps the edges of them looking feathery which is a much more natural line for the eyebrow. Cut the hair where it starts to bend or curl, staggering the lengths for an even more natural look. Be careful not to trim them too short, as doing this can give the appearance of gaps in the brows. You need high-quality sharp scissors for this task. Even a millimetre difference in trimming can mean the difference between a perfect trim and a gap in your brows. Rubis® Scissors have a super fine tip for precision cutting, are lightweight for total control of where you’re snipping, and have double hardened cutting edges for smooth cutting that won’t leave hairs jagged.”

  1. Using Blunt Tweezers

The way to gorgeous brows is investing in top range tweezers. There are a variety of different tweezer shapes on the market with different shapes having different functions. For example, pointed tweezers allow for the removal of everything from ingrown hairs to blackheads and whiskers as well as being lifesavers for pesky splinter removals. But if you are considering purchasing a holy grail pair to shape your eyebrows, I recommend choosing a fine tipped slanted edge tweezer like the Rubis® Classic Slant Tweezers. These luxurious tweezers have a non-slip grip, crucial for utmost accuracy when taming and shaping your brows. You want a pair of tweezers that are sharp to grab onto each individual hair and won’t slide off mid pluck.”
