Spend summer at The Dell of Abernethy

For a summer holiday that encourages everyone to switch off and get back to nature, The Dell of Abernethy is a beautiful, creative place home to a series of summer entertainment and activities for those in need of a rural escape. 

Right in the heart of the Cairngorms and on the edge of the Abernethy Forest, The Dell is a peaceful retreat amidst real wilderness, with six cosy cottages that offer the best base for exploring the Scottish Highlands.

There’s bike rentals and guided wildlife walking tours, soundscape meditation, axe throwing, wood carving, plus private yoga, massage and Craniosacral therapy, and soon a new wellness area fit with a Jacuzzi, large sauna and icy cold buckets to dunk in!

There’s also a zipline, swings, a trampoline and a hundred trees to climb. Tasty treats and homemade meals to bung in the oven can be found in the Dell Grocer, along with fresh bread and chilled wine, plus Pétanque, bows and arrows, flower presses and slingshots for the kids, to encourage a wild, free and unplugged holiday.

Soundscape Meditation Walk – throughout summer

Music plays a big part at The Dell. Their  ‘Woodland Wireless’ playlists on Spotify form a connection with the woods long after guests leave. The Soundscape Meditation Walk draws from this library, carefully selecting tracks that stir and resonate with the surrounding landscape, transporting guests to a meditative musical journey into the deeper, more hidden trails surrounding the Dell. Each walk takes around an hour and uses a wireless silent disco headphones system, punctuated with birdsong interludes and hot cups of chai. 

Comedy performance by Three Inch Fools – 4 July

The Dell is delighted to be hosting Three Inch Fools for what’s set to be a truly uplifting and energetic night of music, storytelling and rip roaring hilarity. It will be a re-enactment of Shakespeare’s most farcical comedy like you’ve never seen. The performance will take place on the lawn at The Dell with plenty of space for picnic rugs and deck chairs. Guests are welcome to bring their own food, but there will be a running bar so no BYOB. A definite fun for all the family!

The Dell Maker’s Market – 20 July

Following the success of last year’s Maker’s Market, this year is another chance to support local businesses, bringing together a wonderful assortment of crafters, artists and food and drink producers from the local area to showcase their fantastic products. There will be something for everyone, so as well as bagging a beauty, guests can hang out under the trees listening to live music, watch demonstrations from local green woodworkers and enjoy some delicious food and drink. 

Tipi Sunday Social – 18 August

The Dell love a good old family Sunday Social! Everyone’s welcome for a day of kicking back, listening to some fantastic music, having a bite to eat and a good catch up before the summer’s over. They will be kicking things off at 2pm with food trucks on site and DJs providing the tunes, promising the perfect end to the summer holidays.
