HOW TO MAKE THE ULTIMATE BABY GUINNESS – AND TWO COMMON MISTAKES
Share
Baby Guinness cocktails have gained popularity in the last few years as more people have tried the smooth combination of sharp coffee liqueur and velvety Irish cream.
Many people struggle to make the tasty tipple, as balancing the cream on top of the coffee is not as easy as it looks. Five Farms have outlined the key mistakes people make, to help avoid a streaky Baby Guinness. Using premium ingredients like Five Farms Irish Cream Liqueur will make your cocktail taste better, but unless you follow our guide, we can’t guarantee it will look the part.
Co-founder of Five Farms, Johnny Harte, said: “A Baby Guinness can be a great way to end a meal, replacing your usual coffee for this coffee-based tipple. Five Farms is perfect for turning this fan favourite shot into a premium drink to be sipped.”

TOP TIPS
A notoriously difficult drink to master, follow these tips with the recipe below for a failsafe way to get a beautiful Baby Guinness every time.
- Refrigerate the glass, as well as the ingredients.
This drink is best served cold – which includes the glass. This will keep your tipple cooler for longer, and the chilled glass will add to the overall look of the serve.
- Add your coffee liqueur carefully
Try not to let it splash up the sides of the glass as you pour, to ensure a clean division between the coffee and cream elements of the drink.
- Grab a spoon
The best way to make your cocktail look like a perfectly poured glass of Guinness is to pour the Five Farms Irish Cream Liqueur over a spoon, so that it sits on top of the coffee liqueur. Hold the spoon upside down, just above the surface of the coffee, and pour the Five Farms onto the spoon so that it floats across the top.
TWO MISTAKES TO AVOID

- Pouring from a height
Even if you’re poised and ready with an upturned spoon, holding the spoon too high could ruin your chances of a neat drink. If the Five Farms has a chance to splash down into the drink, the mixture will appear cloudy and streaked. Holding the spoon very close to the coffee liqueur will prevent this.
- Pouring too quickly
Whilst you’ll no doubt be excited to sip on this premium drink, rushing the process can ruin your presentation. Letting the Five Farms drizzle over the spoon will avoid a cascade down into the coffee liqueur, and help it balance at the top.
