Worried about your caffeine intake?

With 72% of Brits agreeing drinking coffee is part of their daily ritual, but over half (52%) admitting they worry about their caffeine intake, CafePod, the London-based independent coffee company, has launched a solution – Half-Caff Brunch Blend Nespresso® compatible coffee pods.
Offering coffee lovers and pod machine users everywhere a 50:50 blend of decaffeinated and regular roasted coffee, this half-caffeinated edition of their popular Brunch Blend is a great alternative for those looking to cut down their coffee intake without compromising on taste.

With 18% not being able to function without coffee but over 1 in 10 (11%) agreeing it makes them feel jittery, coffee is evidently a huge part of our lives and paramount to our general mood. Because of this, Productivity Ninja, Grace Marshall, has teamed up with CafePod to offer her advice.
Grace comments; “It’s amazing how our rituals affect our productivity, and with 51% of the nation agreeing that coffee makes them more productive, it seems having a coffee is one of them. Sometimes it’s not even the caffeine itself, but the smell, the taste, the warmth of the cup between our hands, that have a way of putting our minds in a particular zone. We humans are creatures of habit. Take the transition to working from home at the beginning of the COVID pandemic: many people loved the idea of not having to commute, but found it hard to get their minds into the ‘work zone’ without it, so much so that they created a mock commute, taking a walk around the block and grabbing a takeaway coffee on the way back, for example. Some even invested in new coffee machines at home to upgrade the experience!”
CafePod-commissioned research of 2,000 British adults found that, whilst over half (56%) agree that they prefer coffee to tea, 7% even choosing it over sex in the ‘what you would give up first’ debate, 26% drink their last cup of caffeinated coffee between 2-5pm, meaning they don’t choose to enjoy their favourite hot drink for a large portion of the day. 56% would also drink coffee later in the day if the caffeine didn’t affect their sleep quality.
With 31% of people not drinking decaffeinated coffee because they see ‘no point’ and over 1 in 5 (23%) choosing not to drink it because they imagine it doesn’t taste very nice, CafePod hopes their new Half-Caff pods will educate Brits on the benefits of drinking reduced caffeine coffee, and myth bust the misconceptions around it. 72% also admitted to have never heard of half-caff coffee before, with many thinking it is coffee with reduced taste or that it is an all-in-one coffee and milk capsule.
Grace continues; “Although coffee can be great for getting us into work mode, too much caffeine can interfere with our focus, making it difficult to stay on one task. It can also interfere with our sleep – which has a further impact on productivity, as lack of sleep can affect our high-level brain functions to the point where our work performance can suffer as much as if we were drunk! A reduced blend, such as half-caff, is a great solution to help people enjoy the benefits of coffee, without the detrimental effects of too much caffeine.”
Peter Grainger, Co-Founder of CafePod, comments; “We’re excited to add a new Half-Caff blend to our existing coffee pod range, and this research is just another example as to why a reduced-caffeine coffee is needed in the UK market. We’re a nation of coffee lovers, but lots of us want to moderate our caffeine intake. We’re proud to offer an alternative that will allow Brits to enjoy more coffee, later into the day.”
