Introducing Babur, an award winning Indian Restaurant in London

Share

Babur, a family-run restaurant in Honor Oak Park in SE London that has been quietly serving some of London’s best Indian cuisine since 1985.

Crowned London’s Best Asian Restaurant at the Asian Restaurant Awards 2022, Babur offers a unique dining experience that’s worth the journey beyond the usual culinary hotspots.

Led by head chef Jiwan Lal and sous chef Praveen Kumar Gupta (both former Oberoi Hotel Group chefs), Babur combines traditional Indian recipes with modern twists, using only the freshest ingredients. The menu is a celebration of the bold, vibrant flavours of the subcontinent, from starters like Goat Shoulder Tikka and Crab Bonda to mains such as Venison Hunter Curry and Baby Monkfish Tail Caldeen. Babur also offers inventive vegetarian options and an expertly crafted cocktail list, including the signature Currytini (Bombay Sapphire Gin – Fresh curry leaf – Green chilli – Dry vermouth – Lime cordial) & the Mumbai Negroni with homemade Vermouth and a careful selection of wines.

The atmosphere at Babur is equally inviting, with a stylish interior featuring beautiful artwork, including a large Kalamkari textile and a striking mural by artist Matt McGuiness. It’s the perfect setting to enjoy exceptional food and drink in a relaxed yet sophisticated environment.

What truly sets Babur apart, though, is its community-focused approach. The restaurant engages with its guests through The Tasting Group, where diners provide feedback on new dishes before they hit the menu, ensuring that every guest feels part of the restaurant’s evolution – open to all customers!

While it’s tucked away in the quieter area of Honor Oak Park, Babur’s loyal following and critical acclaim make it a must-visit for food lovers in London.
