Expert Hair Styling Tips For Halloween

Share

The spooky season is looming and what better excuse for a fancy dress party?

Many of us have our costumes picked and accessories prepped, so now it’s time we look at the finishing touches to create the perfect Halloween look.

Professional hairdresser and brand executive Nicola Wilcox from Capital Hair and Beauty has revealed her top Halloween hair tips for popular costumes such as vampires, witches, zombies and the infamous Harley Quinn look.

Vampires

Nicola says, “for a vampire look, aim for sleek, glossy hair with a touch of elegance. A slicked-back style works well, either with long, straight hair or a neat, low bun. You can use a shine spray or hair gel to create that sharp, polished look.

“Add a blood-red ribbon or gothic hairpiece for a dramatic finishing touch.”

Witches

“For the perfect witchy look, think tousled, windswept waves or sleek, long locks with added volume at the roots. You can add texture by using a curling wand to create loose, messy waves and finish with a texturizing spray to give it a slightly undone, magical feel.

“Add a wide-brimmed witch hat and black or purple hair clips to complete the look.”

Harley Quinn

“Harley Quinn’s iconic pigtails are a playful and edgy look that’s perfect for Halloween. Start by parting the hair down the middle and securing high pigtails on each side. You can straighten the hair for a sleek look or add loose waves for texture. To achieve her signature colourful ends, use Crazy Color Hair Colour Pastel Sprays in Bubblegum (blue) and Marshmallow (pink) for a bold, temporary pop of colour. Finish with a strong-hold hairspray to keep your style intact through all the Halloween fun.

“Complete Harley’s look by tying red and blue ribbons around the base of each pigtail.”

Zombies

“For a zombie look, go for messy, tangled hair with a greasy, dirtied effect. Use a texturizing or sea salt spray to give your hair that grimy, unkempt look, and backcomb at the roots to add volume and chaos.

“Add leaves, twigs, or tattered hair ribbons to your look for extra authenticity.”
