How Matcha Can Help Boost Your Wellbeing

health benefits of matcha

Matcha, a finely ground powder made from specially grown and processed green tea leaves, has surged in popularity worldwide due to its unique flavor and remarkable health benefits.

Originating from Japan, this vibrant green tea is not only a ceremonial drink but also a powerful source of nutrients and antioxidants. One of the most notable health benefits of matcha is its high concentration of catechins, particularly epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), which are known for their cancer-fighting properties and ability to enhance heart health by lowering bad cholesterol and blood pressure.

Furthermore, matcha contains L-theanine, an amino acid that promotes relaxation without drowsiness, making it an excellent alternative to coffee for those seeking a more stable energy boost without the jittery side effects. The combination of caffeine with L-theanine in matcha also improves cognitive function, enhancing focus and concentration. Additionally, matcha supports weight loss efforts by boosting metabolism and increasing fat burning.

Its detoxifying properties also come from the high levels of chlorophyll present in the leaves used to make matcha powder.

  • 200ml cold water
  • 1 wedge of lemon

For the matcha:

  • 4 tsp matcha powder
  • 8 tbsp hot water (not boiling)
  • 2 tsp honey
  • 500ml milk of your choosing
  • Lots of ice
