To celebrate International Women’s Day and welcome the new season, 5* Great Scotland Yard Hotel, London, is launching a special Afternoon Tea in collaboration with the iconic perfumery, Floris London available from 19th February as an homage to women and their multifaceted roles.
The theme was chosen to coincide with International Women’s Day on March 8th and Mother’s Day on March 10th. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of the afternoon tea will be donated to Breast Cancer UK. Amongst the pastries featured is one that symbolises two breasts, one of which has undergone a mastectomy, adorned with a golden scar reminiscent of the Japanese art of Kintsugi. Kintsugi celebrates the process of repairing broken pottery with gold-infused glue, where the value lies not in the object’s flawless beauty but in its imperfections and history of breakage. This technique intentionally accentuates the scars, showcasing the broken yet beautiful pieces in glistening gold, embodying the concept that beauty is enhanced by embracing and highlighting imperfections.
Inspired by Floris’ Lily of The Valley scent, this carefully curated menu will include outstanding dishes including ‘Egg truffle mayo and chives on pain de mie’,’Courgette, rocket and lemon quiche’ and ‘Caramelised Jerusalem artichoke and Montgomery cheddar Yorkshire Pudding’. Freshly baked, warm scones will also be served, alongside delicious Cornish clotted cream, Rhubarb and rose jam. Created by the hotel’s Head pastry Chef Veronica Garrido Martinez, the afternoon tea will allow guests the opportunity to explore this exclusive scent whilst enjoying the flavoursome afternoon tea.
