EVERYTHING SHOWER

The countdown to Valentine’s Day is on. Whether you’re doing some last minute present shopping, frantically trying to get a table reservation for the 14th, or even just on the hunt for the perfect V-Day card, love is definitely in the air. But there’s probably another kind of Valentine’s prep you’re planning on, too…

The everything shower has proven to be a universally popular trend, with over 700 million views on the TikTok hashtag ‘everything shower’, Google Trends reporting a +750% increase in searches for ‘an everything shower’ and a +300% increase in ‘what is an everything shower’ in the past 12 months alone.

Put simply, an ‘everything shower’ is your usual routine wash, plus all the extras. Whilst it’s not a brand new concept – you probably do something similar before a big night out or special occasion – its runaway popularity on social media suggests that the ‘everything shower’ is enjoying a renaissance of sorts.

Whether you’re planning a romantic night in, or simply want to practise some self-love, BEAUTY BAY expert Rachael Hayman, Head of Brand, has provided the essential everything shower steps, to help you elevate your routine.

  1. First Cleanse: If you’re clued up on double cleansing this will come as no surprise, but before you commence your actual shower you should use a cleansing balm or cleansing oil. We love the By BEAUTY BAY Cleansing Balm.
  2. Dry Body Brush: You can either dry body brush or exfoliate in the shower. Dry body brushing exfoliates, stimulates circulation and blood flow across your body, plus it’s great for lymphatic drainage. Try the Skin Gym Body Brush.
  3. Pre-Shower Hair Mask: Choose a hair oil, scalp treatment, or hair mask – any type of hair treatment that you can apply to dry hair before the shower. The By BEAUTY BAY Repair and Strengthen Hair Mask works wonders.
  4. Shampoo & Condition: Use whichever shampoo and conditioner you love – if you’re fully embracing the self-care element of the everything shower, reach for a deeply hydrating shampoo and conditioner, like the By BEAUTY BAY Strengthen and Hydrate Duo
  5. Second Hair Mask: Slick your mask on post-shampoo and protect it from washing off too soon with a shower cap – the Olaplex No.8 is an intense moisture mask perfect to leave on while you focus elsewhere.
  6. Exfoliate: If you’re planning to shave in the shower, we recommend exfoliating beforehand – it’ll help keep in-grown hairs safely at bay. Try Sol De Janeiro Body Scrub for a fragrant scrub.
  7. Shave: If removing body hair is your thing, now’s the time. Reach for a shaving foam or gel for a silky shave.
  8. Second Cleanse: For your second cleanse go for a gel cleanser or foaming cleanser to clear your face of any product build-up.
  9. Clay Face Mask: The hot water and steam will open up pores, so apply a clay mask to penetrate and deep clean. The Bubble Skincare Detoxifying mask works brilliantly.
  10. Body Wash: No shower would be complete without a body wash. Leave until last to make sure no other product is left on your skin.
  11. Body Moisturising: Invest in a quality body moisturiser, like the Sol De Janeiro Brazilian Bum Bum Cream, to hydrate your skin after the long shower. You could even layer on body oil too.
  12. Hair Serums & Oils: Whether you’re heat styling your hair or not after your shower, use a nourishing protective serum or oil like the By BEAUTY BAY Repair Hair Oil is a great way to ensure all the TLC you showed your hair in your shower routine lasts.

And, once you’re out of the shower you can go ahead and complete your go-to skincare routine.. Invest in a face maskhair treatment and body scrub to get your new head-to-toe routine down, in time for Valentine’s Day, with BEAUTY BAY.
